Dr. Matt Burkart

Dr. Matt Burkart attended the Indiana University School of Optometry, receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2012. He brings over 10 years of experience to Eye Specialists of Indiana, practicing comprehensive primary eye care with a medical focus on treatment and management of ocular disease. In addition of Doctorate of Optometry, Dr. Burkart also earned his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Anderson University in 2015. Dr. Burkart is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Indiana Optometric Association.

Dr. Glenn Kirk

Dr. Glenn Kirk is a Clinic Director for Eye Specialists of Indiana and is residency-trained in cataract and ocular disease care. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Indiana Optometric Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Kirk has more than 20 years experience providing specialty referral center cataract care. He is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and instructs at Indiana University School of Optometry and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Dr. Stacy Lowdermilk

Dr. Stacy Lowdermilk received her Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2009. She brings over 10 years of optometric experience to Eye Specialists of Indiana’s newest clinic in Terre Haute, IN. Before joining Eye Specialists of Indiana, Dr. Lowdermilk worked for a group medical practice, providing primary care optometry with a strong emphasis on disease management, for 8 years. Dr. Lowdermilk is a member of the American Optometric Association, Indiana Optometric Association, is active in leadership of the Western Indiana Optometric Society, and is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.

Dr. Jennifer Nguyen

Dr. Jennifer Nguyen is originally from Minnetonka, MN. In 2013, Dr. Nguyen graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2019. Before graduating from the School of Optometry, Dr. Nguyen completed a rotational externship at Eye Specialists of Indiana where she focused on the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, refractive procedures, and pre- and post- operative cataract care. She is also a member of the Indiana Optometric Association.

Dr. Brandon Sharp

Dr. Brandon Sharp is a native of Lafayette, Indiana. After graduating from Purdue University he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2011. He completed a 1-year postdoctoral residency at the University of Kentucky Department of Ophthalmology focused on the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. He worked in private practice for 3 years before joining Eye Specialists of Indiana. Dr. Sharp is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Indiana Optometric Association.

Dr. Robert Johnston

Dr. Robert Johnston is a Clinic Director for Eye Specialists of Indiana. He brings more than 25 years of experience in pre- and post-operative cataract care to the Eye Specialists’ team. He is certified by the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry and by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Dr. Johnston is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Indiana Optometric Association, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Johnston also instructs students at Indiana University School of Optometry and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Dr. Bret Lehman

Dr. Bret Lehman attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry, graduating with a Doctorate of Optometry and Master’s in Vision Science in 2009. Following graduation, he completed his residency through Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. Before joining Eye Specialists of Indiana, Dr. Lehman served seven years in the United State Army as an Army Optometrist and he continues his military service through the Air National Guard. Dr. Lehman is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and a member of the American Optometric Association and an American Academy of Optometry fellow.

Dr. Tessa Metzing

Dr. Tessa Metzing received her Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2008 prior to her completing her residency at the University of Kentucky Department of Ophthalmology. During her residency training, she focused on the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of ocular disease. Dr. Metzing brings more than 15 years experience providing specialty optometric care, including pre-op and post-op cataract care, to Eye Specialists of Indiana. Dr. Metzing is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Indiana Optometric Association.

Dr. Zach Rossman

Dr. Zach Rossman graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry and completed a residency with interest in Ocular Disease Management. He has more than 10 years experience providing specialty referral center cataract care. Dr. Rossman is active in the leadership of the Central Indiana Optometric Association. He is a member Indiana Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. He provides instruction for the clinical rotations for University of Missouri-- St. Louis and Indiana University optometry students.

Dr. Bill Shultz

Bill Shultz, M.D., is a full-time laser and cataract surgeon at Eye Specialists of Indiana. Dr. Shultz is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr. Shultz is a member of the Society for Excellence in Eye Care and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

Dr. Shultz completed his residency at Saint Louis University and received his doctor of medicine degree from Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Shultz currently teaches the Cataract Surgery Lecture Series at the Saint Louis Department of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Paul Walton

Paul Walton, M.D., is Surgical Director and co-founder of Eye Specialists of Indiana. Dr. Walton is a full-time cataract surgeon who specializes in the laser and surgical treatment of cataracts and related ocular disorders in adults. Dr. Walton has personally performed more than 100,000 successful cataract procedures, making him a uniquely experienced surgeon in Indiana and one of the most experienced cataract surgeons in the nation.

Dr. Walton is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is an active Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Indiana State Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Walton is a Board Member of the Society for Excellence in Eye Care and is a certified member of the American Board of Eye Surgery. Dr. Walton also teaches the cataract surgery lecture series at Saint Louis University’s Department of Ophthalmology.
